Online Indian passport application tracking status: Just Visit http://passportstatus.nic.in/passmain.php and enter your file number which will be available in left corner of your Acknowledgement/Receipt.  Once you visit the http://www.passportstatus.nic.in/passmain.php, you will see something like this below. You have to enter the details like  City,  Enter File Reference No., Year of Registration  and Date of Birth   and you will get your status of your in few seconds.

 

Passport Status through SMS

You can also check your passport status by SMS as well. You can receive your passport status by sending SMS to 55352.

The Format will be  : PPTAB  <FileNumber>

Eg:   Say your File Number is HYD R12345611 then you have to type SMS as  PPTAB HYDR12345611  —> 55352.
